When he turned on the burner I was seriously expecting the stove to blow up. I was not expecting Caleb Brown.

Really? Sorry guys... I saw the version that was way too rushed, contrived, unsatisfying, and frankly insulting. At the end I just kept thinking... WHAT...THE HELL...WAS THAT... Train wreck. Absolute train wreck. With the shooting at the end...followed by the old soundbites...and then the "family" scene... TPTB really thought that would make everything OK? A terrible ending from inept writers and show runners. I felt like I got flipped off as they turned out the lights and left. We...Castle...deserved SO much better. So now we live off seasons 1 thru 4 and fanfic. Or not at all. If this post gets me a quick usher out the door, so be it. But I'm not going to admire the Emperor's new clothes...

You're entitled to your opinion RH and I get what you're saying. It was rushed and obviously tacked on but I'm just glad they got the happy ending. Although I was looking forward to a S9. I just enjoyed it for what it was and Nathan's outstanding performance.

I not going to pretend it was a dream ending, but compared to the entirety of season 8, it was a good ending. I really would have enjoyed season 9 (I think) because I was picturing a Rockford Files vibe, but TPTB could have ruined that, too. I'm mostly amazed at Nathan's work on the finale (pretty much always amazed with his work). I'm sad and frustrated by how it all went off the rails the last season, and how horrifically ABC handled the last month. It won't stop me from loving the show and the fact that it brought Nathan into my living room 20-some weeks a year for 8 years. I just hope he stays busy so I can keep watching him and his work I'm still happy you're back, RH.

The last time I checked you can still buy any or all episodes in the 8 seasons. Of course, it's cheaper to purchase a season rather than individual episodes. I've done both depending on the year.

Ah, but for those of us who suffered through season 8, I was not expecting much especially because I have pretty much despised Loksat all season. I definitely get what you are saying but for me it held my interest and was action packed (and no buffoonish, bumbling behavior). I wasn't interested enough in Loksat for it all to make sense in the end. I'm glad Ryan and Espo were brought into the fight and enjoyed their contributions. There wasn't too much Hayley or Alexis. We got some Lanie and Martha and Nathan gave an incredible performance in the interrogation scene and it ended on a happy note. Maybe it's because my expectations were so low, but I really enjoyed it. OK, let's talk about the ending. When Castle turned on the burner and kept staring at it, I was expecting an explosion (Kelly mentioned that too). When Caleb came out of no where (do they just leave the door wide open?) and shot Castle I almost leaped out of my chair. Then when Kate collapsed with a GSW and they crawled to each other, I was going nuts! I thought it was over. I remember Nathan saying before that when Castle ended he thought his character should die. Not to mention TPTB make sure nothing ever works out for these guys. Then they started with the voice overs and said 7 years later. My mind was racing trying to figure out what was going on. Had Castle just been writing this story? I was so confused, but decided they just survived and lived happily ever after. Hey I was just thrilled that they splurged and bought Castle a new shirt and sport coat for the last episode!

Can't figure where to post After reading where Channing Dungey's sister show is getting Castles time slot I beginning to wonder how much Channing Dungey was involved with everything that has been going on. Did she have Katic fired? Did she order the show cancelled.

ABC waiting to the last minute kept them really having an excellent last episode.

And with apologies...the opportunity for an excellent, satisfying series finale was lost a long time ago. Two feuding leads and a writing staff who chose hackneyed story plots because they didn't know to write these two characters married...saw to that. Sorry guys...I probably just need to take my negativity somewhere else, but I just can't put a nice spin on something this dreadfully misused. Yeah...I appreciate the invite to this board. And I love some of the people here. But I can't stay if it means having to put on a happy face just to salvage a lost love.

Don't you dare go anywhere, Rugged. We are not against negativity. There's been plenty of episodes I've hated this year. As long as you're not attacking anybody (well, showrunners are fair game) you are welcome here.

Thanks, eyebee... It's just hard to deal with right now. Such a big chunk of my life used to revolve around this show. And I don't even recognize it anymore.
And me? Attack anyone? Funny. Although there were a few characters a few years back, that stomped into the ST with their muddy boots... I wasn't as polite as I should have been.

It's been hard watching it deteriorate over the years (IMO). There are still a lot of the episodes that I love and will continue to rewatch.

My series finale is "Always."
