For anyone interested, we are going to watch and discuss Two Guys and a Girl. In memory of Castle Mondays, we will discuss it on Mondays starting on June 20th. The first season only has 13 episodes and since I don't believe Nathan is in it at all, we'll plow thru it pretty quick. The episodes are only about 18 mins long. Season 1 June 20th - episodes 1 - 5 June 27th - episodes 6 - 13 We'll figure out the schedule for the other seasons later, but we will review fewer episodes at a time. Here's the link: Two Guys and a Girl

Ready to discuss 2GaaG? Talk about the episodes, the characters, the show in general. Likes, dislikes, whatever you want to discuss.
Characters - Berg (Ryan Reynolds), Sharon (Traylor Howard), Pete (Richard Ruccolo) - 20 something best friends
Bill - Pizza place owner
Mr Bauer (David Ogden Stiers) - Passes off movie scenes as his real life
ep 1
Pete wants to break up with his girlfriend, Melissa
ep 2
Berg wants to finally tell Bethany how he feels and invites her to Pete's 30th Bday party (he's not really 30 and it's not his Bday)
ep 3
Berg discovers there is a sexy artist that Pete always delivers pizzas to. Sharon tries to connect with a jogger.
ep 4
Pete's the ultimate Celtic fan, but Berg wins the chance to sit on the bench with the Celtics at the game. Berg tried to make it up to Pete by stealing a championship banner.
ep 5
Berg tests talking marathon shoes. Sharon has new boyfriend, Ted.

I made it through 3 1/2 episodes late last night before I fell asleep. LOL
- Ryan Reynolds looks about 16 compared to the other actors. His voice sounds like a teenager too. - I think my favorite character so far is Sharon. She's feisty. LOL - Loved drunk on Jello shots Melissa is ep 2. She was funny without overplaying the drunkness. Always the best way to play it. - The pizza place owner has some funny one liners. - Can't remember which episode but I laughed out loud when Sharon dropped the beers down to the guys and they caught them out the window with the long pool skimmer.
- I've only previously watched 1 1/2 episodes with Nathan and a few clips, and maybe I'm just biased, but so far I feel like the show is much better after he joins at the beginning of S2, and is better with him in it.

I like that Sharon is really successful even though she hates her job. Pete is slightly neurotic. Berg is very smart and doesn't have to study to make good grades but has no direction in life. They are all struggling with relationships. They all want someone in their lives but not necessarily ready to commit to one person.
I feel like the show is trying to find it's direction, but I like the characters and it really is funny.
I love Mr Bauer! "This is not the party you are looking for" He cracks me up!
I know we are all biased but I like the episodes with Nathan better too.

It was just funny to me that the first episode just kind of...was there. It just starts off as if you know all these people, but they do kind of give you a who is who within the storyline. Just having seen a few clips of later episodes, it seems Sharon is a bit more of a ditz to start with than she is as the series goes on. So she lives upstairs from them?? At first, I thought she lived WITH them.

Mr Bauer is probably best known for being Major Charles Winchester on MASH. He's guest starred in a lot of other shows. Not sure if he's been a regular on another show. I love Traylor Howard (Sharon). She was on Monk which is another one of my favorite shows. I just saw that she turned 50 last week. I thought she was going to be living with the guys too, but no, she is upstairs. It wasn't well explained how they all became friends or I just missed it. I assumed they got together in college. Maybe they all lived together for awhile? IDK. The 1st episode was kind of weird with Pete wanting to break up with Melissa right off the bat. I loved how badly Pete handled it. When Melissa laughingly suggested it seemed like he was breaking up with her, Pete denied it. Then Berg confirmed Pete was trying to break up with her, so she turned the tables and broke up with him. I loved that and everyone in the pizza place cheered her on. When Berg tried to fix things, he made it worse. I thought the episode ended with them broken up forever, then they were together in the next episode. I enjoyed the talking shoes in the 5th episode more than I should have.

Due to an apparent lack of interest, we are going to blast thru the rest of season 1, episodes 6 - 13 and discuss next Monday, 6/27. It only takes an hour to watch 3 episodes so is quite doable. If that is too much, watch the last 2 episodes, 12 & 13 so you have an idea of what is going on when we start Season 2. I'm expecting more of you to join in when we get to Nathan's episodes!

By the way, I went back and watched the 5th one and it was by far my favorite out of the first 5. The talking shoes were pretty funny. Even though the missing windows was ridiculous, I found it hilarious. And the frozen fish.... I'm gone traveling next Monday - Thursday so I won't be around to discuss on Monday.

I could be having a very one-sided discussion then. At least no one will disagree with me! -LOL Feel free to say something on Sunday if you've watched any of them or jump in the next weekend when you return.

Here's a brief recap of this week's assignment
Ep 6 Pete and Berg fight back against the new landlord and his rules.
Ep 7 Pete and Melissa's 1 year anniversary. Mr Bauer steals the show again.
Ep 8 Berg finds Pete a rebound girl.
Ep 9 Berg lies to his Dad about being in law school, but his dad has a secret of his own.
Ep 10 Pete can't believe that everyone suddenly respects Berg just because he is a med student. Berg does his Captain Kirk impression at a very inopportune time.
Ep 11 Pete and Berg put together a softball team with them, Sharon, and 6 beautiful girls.
Ep 12 Berg answers a personal ad for Pete to get him a girl. Did you see Fatal Attraction?
Ep 13 Berg and Pete reflect on how they met Sharon in Freshman year.
Next week (7/4) we will discuss Season 2 ep 1-3.

These episodes are fairly stand alone, but sometimes it seems like they filmed a bunch of them then decided later what order to show them. For instance, Pete finally breaks up for good with Melissa. A couple of episodes later she comes running into the pizza place and Pete refers to her as his girl friend.
I love the relationship between these guys. They are struggling with life issues and are constantly in each other's business and giving each other crap but they really care about each other and are there for each other. The show moves fast and is funny.

Yay, my DVD's arrived. This will make watching them so much easier! I feel a binge coming on!
I read on a DVD review for this show that Mr. Bauer and the pizza place owner are no longer in the series after S1. So it seems they added Nathan, didn't bring back those two and maybe lose the pizza place?? Hence the name change?
