S2E6 It was hilarious when the play by play matched Pete and Berg trying to get in the luxury box.
Sharon lied about what Johnny did for a living to impress her friends. Johnny was upset thinking she was ashamed of him. He was upset and Sharon felt terrible until she discovered he told his buddies that she was a stripper. Of course they kiss and make up. They are so cute together!

I know I'm waaaaay behind on this but I'm going to try to jump in and start watching the episodes you guys are reviewing. I've seen a few of them in the past but look forward to focusing on seasons 2 and 3 with Nathan in it. I'll join in on the discussion as I can. I don't have the DVD's so I'll be watching the YouTube version. By the way, do the DVD sets have any good extras?

You might start with S2E4 since that is when Nathan starts. I don't have DVDs either so I'll let Kelly address that question.

According to the You Tube title, I was watching Homecoming but after watching it, I'm pretty sure it was actually Elective. It must have been one of Nathan's first ones because Sharon is just flirting with him and trying to convince herself he's a genius. Mama Mia! He looks great in that white T-shirt! And I love the fact that he looks every bit that good now, 20 + years later! I like the way Johnny is very self-confident and he even calls Sharon out on what she's doing. I also got a chuckle out of the basketball commentary rant about a female president! Talk about timely! Now I'll try to find Homecoming.

I found both Homecoming and Internship and watched both.
I agree that the play by play commentary as the guys crashed the Luxury Box was funny.
That was kind of a poignant moment when Johnny realizes Sharon's embarrassed by his profession and lack of schooling. I felt so bad for him UNTIL the clever twist that had him lying to his buddies because he didn't want to get teased about dating a "suit." They did a nice job of dealing with that arc over a couple of episodes. Now I'm wondering if Sharon and Johnny will actually talk about it.
Nathan in jeans and a sweatshirt - YUM!
The Internship was OK but there wasn't any Nathan in that one, was there? Good underlying theme about doing something for a living that truly makes you happy.

Like you, I loved how Johnny was true to himself and didn't go along with Sharon's lie. Instead, he freely told her friends he was a jukebox repairman and never went to college. After he was all hurt and indignant, it was great how they flipped it around so he did basically the same thing. But I loved it when they made up. It was an Aww moment. I didn't really have much to say about the Internship, but even when an episode is just OK, it's still pretty funny and there are always twists that you don't see coming. It seems that they are always dealing with problems that young people deal with - jobs, relationships, school, ethics, family.

No extras at all nf. -Say Wha I think it's probably because they were created so many years after the show was off the air.

I agree with your observation, IBM. The writers definitely seemed to be in tune with the issues young adults would be dealing with. So far, I like the way they've handled things.

Ugh!!! I had a bunch of stuff typed about Homecoming and something happened with my computer and it didn't post!! So here's the abridged version.
Johnny and Sharon were adorable in this episode, even when fighting. Lots of great kisses. LOL We need a shipper name for them.
Favorite line: "I knew Heaven would have an open bar!"
What is the deal with Sharon's hair?? It always looks like the hair person used an egg beater on it! Was that the style back in 1998?? I keep trying to remember.
I'm into early S3 and really enjoying the show!! So glad it's become available. Already wishing there were more than 4 seasons!

The Internship...well it was a fun episode...but I'm not going to rewatch since.....well, no Nathan. LOL
Having made it through to the beginning of S3, they add more and more Johnny as the series goes along. Apparently he was well received by the audience as he went from recurring guest star in early S2 to a regular cast member in the credits starting S3. He definitely added a lot to the series IMO, his comedy delivery is always so well done and subtle. I personally find his delivery better than Reynolds who is much more "in your face" with his comedic lines. But maybe that's the way they wanted it.
I don't think I've ever noticed one of his characters as "acting". Sometimes an actor will take you out of a scene where you see them "acting". I've never felt that with Nathan, he always just seems to "be" the character. Hope that made sense. LOL

Okay you guys, I can't wait until we get to S3!! These episodes are hilarious, and the writers/producers have clearly discovered the audience attraction to sexy Johnny/Nathan! He's definitely getting as much screen time as the original 3. Cheering banana
