Here's a blurb on Netflix "Santa Clarita Diet" from Yahoo TV's article "Winter TV Preview 2017: The Scoop on 29 Shiny New Shows" (love that they used "shiny") www.yahoo.com/tv/winter-tv-preview-2017-scoop-slideshow-wp-140057239/photo-p-b-1-sentence-pitch-photo-140057833.htmlThe part about Nathan: Cameo Alert: Nathan Fillion guest stars in the premiere in a key role. "He plays a new realtor that's just moved to town, and he's kind of a flintier, wilder version of Joel (Timothy Olyphant)," Fresco says. "There's a little bit of chemistry between him and Sheila (Drew Barrymore). That's a relationship that may or may not continue."May or may not continue - hoping he's in more than one episode then! Oh my, I really didn't understand what the Santa Clarita Diet was about, but I found this article which says "But we can reveal that the “dramatic change” Sheila undergoes in the series opener is, in fact, death. And while they tend to their open houses and teenage daughter, the couple must sate Sheila’s unbridled id and undead hunger, first with raw meat and, eventually, the human kind." www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2017/01/05/drew-barrymore-reveals-secret-santa-clarita-diet/96134856/I didn't realize it was zombie-like, but I'm a huge fan of iZombie so maybe I'll like it. I'll give it a try. Apparently Nathan plays a new realtor in town. The newly announced twist seems to have piqued a lot of interest now that it has a unique premise from most sitcoms. It's starting to get a lot of mentions in the press. I wish we knew if he was in more than the premiere episode. Guess I'll be pleasantly surprised if he is. I'm happy to see him in a Netflix original series with actors like Barrymore and Olyphant.

Santa Clarita Diet is available on Netflix starting Feb 3rd. I think all S1 episodes are being released at once. This is the first review I've seen....This guy is a journalist/reviewer for an Australian media website.
I'm really hoping Nathan has a bigger part than just the premiere episode, but suspect he doesn't. Hoping I'm wrong!

Thanks for creating this thread, Kelly. I moved one of the posts over here that covers a lot of what we had talked about already.

You love iZombie. One of the articles that really liked SCD said that it was like iZombie without the network censoring and tedious murder solving.

Lots of complimentary mentions of Nathan in all the articles about SCD. One article said his role was "recurring" but I don't know if that's accurate or not.
From the AVClub article: "Dependable performers like Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Nathan Fillion have recurring roles, and the trailer includes glimpses of guest stars like Patton Oswalt and Thomas Lennon."
From TVGuide article: "Comedy heavyweights Patton Oswalt, Nathan Fillion and Thomas Lennon also make appearances."

The murder solving is far from tedious. That's like saying the murders on Castle were tedious. They have built a totally believable and plausible world in which the zombies are able to exist alongside the unsuspecting humans and are able to get access to the brains they need. Whole businesses have developed around providing brains to the zombies that can afford them. Santa Clarita Diet sounds a little like a rip off of it. I just wonder if Sheila is the only one in her 'condition' or if others will show up.

I've never watched it so I'll take your expert word for it.

The Santa Clarita Diet premiere. Nathan's outfit is kind of weird. Me no likey. I like that shirt, I'm just not sure if I like it with the jacket, particularly untucked. But then I'm torn because he's wearing something other than his all black, which I have to give him points for trying to change it up and go for a different look. But then he looks so good in the all black. And I hate a lot of the suits and outfits guys wear on red carpets so maybe I'm just not cool enough to appreciate them. Michelle must have thought it looked okay or I doubt she would have let him wear it. LOL Hopefully new interview or two. http://instagram.com/p/BP_mhYbjuZr

Some good reviews, including one from Matt Roush....
Los Angeles TimesRobert LloydFeb 1, 2017 Score: 80 The plotting sometimes sacrifices sense in the name of comedy and provides easy targets you won’t particularly mind seeing killed and eaten, but it’s tight and propulsive, and because the action takes place over a short period of time, the series never turns into "Variations on a Theme of Zombie Cannibalism." And the performances are charming.
San Francisco ChronicleDavid WiegandFeb 1, 2017 Score: 75 The scripts are solid, and the performances are spot on, especially the two leads, as well as Gisondo and Hewson as Eric and Abby. The only real question is whether the show can sustain itself beyond a first season.

I like what one reviewer called his character.....an "oily bohunk". A big stupid good looking guy. The kind of guy you want to have a booty call but don't want to marry or tell your friends about. HA! I frankly thought Nathan looked might good!

I really don't think Nathan is going to have a recurring role in Santa Clarita Diet.
