I recently saw Pierce Bronson on the cover of TV Guide and the first think that came to mind was Pierce we got old.

I loved that show!!! But honestly, I watched a couple episodes maybe six months ago and couldn't do any more. TV has changed and it just seemed so.......boring?? Can't explain but it just didn't hold my interest now. I don't think boring is the right adjective the more I think about it. I think it was Stephanie Zimbalist that just seemed like such a horrible actress watching after all these years.

I watched the 1st 2 episodes. I still think it's a cute show. When I saw Hart to Hart again, it was pretty disappointing except for the relationship between the 2 stars. I don't think anyone on Remington Steele was very good at acting, but I am such a sucker for that format where the competent woman has a brash man force his way into her world and their resulting conflicts, competition, and eventually respect and romance result. Castle started out doing it so well. I really want another similar show to come along, but it seems like a difficult formula to do well. It also seems like no one is interested in doing the lighthearted procedural any more. It was fun to see this again.

I think the hardest part of a will they/won't they show like Castle is finding the actors that have the chemistry to pull it off. ABC's The Catch is trying for that formula but there is zero chemistry between the leads IMO. Several others have tried and failed too. It just makes it unwatchable and unbelievable for me. The shows with that type of formula in the past like RS and Hart to Hart all had the great chemistry that is absolutely necessary for success. I personally never found that chemistry on the few Bones episodes I saw either, but many must have for it to have lasted so long

Nathan is ruggedly handsome but Pierce was very handsome and he wore great clothes on the show. Funny thing is 30 years ago when the show aired I thought they chemistry but when I watched episode one again nothing. I was spoiled by Castle. I do not think you can act chemistry the stars either have it or they don't.

The Glades was another show that I really liked. It was a little different in that the cop fell for a nurse that he kept involving in his cases. I thought they made a great couple but things were more complicated than normal. Really sorry that show was cancelled. I still watch it on Netflix.

But maybe you just hit on why I didn't like RS watching it this many years later, the chemistry just wasn't there when I watch it NOW.

And it just ended with no wrap up. Did you watch the series Satisfaction that the Glades guy was in after Glades? It lasted a couple seasons, had a really strange storyline, but I liked it. Then it just wasn't renewed either with no resolution.

I tried many times to watch it. The writing was good and all the characters were well thought out and each had their own storyline. I just disliked the Temperance character so much, I actually felt sorry for Booth falling for her. It was also a little more gruesome than I like.

We watched RS when it was on and enjoyed it at the time also Hart to Hart was fun. Castle searched high and low to get the right chemistry. They knew they had their Castle with Nathan but they needed the other half to make it work. Rob Bowman, at one of the LA Castle Cons, told this story. He said that Nathan read with all 125 actresses to help find the right one. It was down to Stana and one other actress. (I would love to know who the other one was??) Rob said he was leaning towards the other actress but his Dad told him to look at them again thru the lens before making his choice. After looking again he went with Stana.

I loved the story that Susan Sullivan told about when she auditioned. She also read with Nathan, but she thought he was just some flunky she was reading with. He was seated and she ordered him to stand up. Of course he complied and they all liked how she could boss him around in a motherly way.

Have to agree with you all, that we were spoiled by the great chemistry in Castle - not only between Stana and Nathan, but between so many of the other characters too.
I've enjoyed watching Scarecrow and Mrs. King over and over. I think they had very good chemistry up until the last season when there were other issues.

I'm trying to remember what "other issues" there were.

In season 4, the female star was diagnosed with breast cancer and she continued to do what she could but they had to significantly curtail her parts in the shows. They had to write episodes focusing on the other characters and she was only on screen for a few minutes each episode for about the last half of the 4th season. There was also talk of the 2 leads strongly disliking each other but, just as with Castle, no one knows for sure. I do know that her health was a major issue. It was a shame because the first 3 seasons did a wonderful job of growing their relationship and leading up to a wedding in that last season.
