I like the idea that we'll occasionally get to see his relationship with his son. That'll add a nice dimension to his character, even if it's not very often.
ABC has certainly gone all out promoting this! I sure hope it lives up to it.

First review I've seen is from the NY PostPretty much sums up what I've been anticipating. Your link does not work. You are most certainly a Stanatic. There have a number of reviews where they liked the show. Well known TV critics. Personally I think ABC may have screwed up by delaying premiering their shows. I have watched "New Amsterdam" on NBC several times. I like it and it has a established lead with "This is Us" ABC has a bunch of new comedies on Tuesday and "The Rookie" Their scheduling makes little sense.

I'm sure anxious to see the premier! ProudTVJunkie has seen it twice and says it's looking very good.
I'm also watching and enjoying New Amsterdam and have some concerns about The Rookie coming in a little too late, BUT, with all the promotion ABC's given the show and the option for many to DVR shows, I think a lot of people are likely to tune in Tuesday to check it out. Let's hope they're hooked right away!

I have watched "New Amsterdam" on NBC several times. I like it and it has a established lead with "This is Us" ABC has a bunch of new comedies on Tuesday and "The Rookie" Their scheduling makes little sense. As I wrote, that was the first I saw. Corrected link is NY Post: "Fillion fans will be happy to see their hero back on the tube; for everyone else, “The Rookie” has a “been there, done that” feel." Since then I've seen a few more. Reviews so far for The Rookie are lukewarm to good about the show and all indicate the role fits Nathan like a glove, or as one said 'Nolan is Nathan'. "The Rookie is a completely passable and competent drama series from the network, star and former showrunner of Castle, and if that’s all you’re looking to get out of the series, you’re going to be pleased." - Forbes "Fillion fans get exactly what they want in “The Rookie,” as his character fits him like a well-worn suit. The lead character plays to Fillion’s strengths. John Nolan is a likable everyman. He’s chivalrous, a bit rough around the edges and uses subtle humor with impeccable timing. Nolan is the kind of person who fascinates women and with whom men want to have a beer. Basically, he’s Nathan Fillion." - Colorado Springs Gazette "Fillion's back in a decent cop drama that fits him like a bespoke suit." - Newsday If you have others, please post. I agree about the scheduling. EDIT: Not sure why my links aren't working. Nathan taped GMA and Kelly today. He will be on those shows tomorrow. If you can look at twitter Nathan answered 19 questions from people today. He shows the questions and answers them on his twitter feed.

I just watched this interview that has Nathan one on one for 30 min. Talking about not only The Rookie but his career and many roles he has done. Good interview.

Nice interview with Nathan on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Although he's there to talk about The Rookie, they talk about other things. Kelly fondly remembers that Nathan organized her 21th birthday party and Nathan has no memory of it!

In Nathan's defense, it didn't sound like much of a party, more of a "Hey, it's your 21st birthday! We need to do something. Let's all go to the bar across the street."
