Nolan, the rookies, and their training officers get involved in a competition that pits them against each other, while Officer Lucy Chen notices Officer Tim Bradford is obsessed with winning at all costs.
This one was written by Elizabeth Beall, wife of Will Beall. They both wrote for Castle. She wrote some episodes that I wasn't too fond of like The Limey. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

This strikes me as kind of a ridiculous premise. Is there such a thing in real police departments? I'm sure there'll be some good laughs from it but I'm a little skeptical going into it.

Review - Spoilers
The Roundup was a good episode. Every week we learn more about the rookies and their TOs and why they behave the way they do. This week there was an unofficial competition for who can make the most felony collars. Bradford says they will win at all costs and bribes a dispatcher to direct calls to them. Bishop says they aren't playing.
Nolan is out of sorts this episode since his breakup with Lucy. He's also upset they won't be a part of the competition that clearly everyone is excited about. Then he's jealous when he sees Lucy talking to a handsome young firefighter. He rescues a child from drowning but the firefighter that revived him gets the recognition - the one Lucy had shown an interest in. Still Bishop and Grey tell him good job. He also gets shoved off a building and hurts his shoulder. They luck into a couple of felony arrests, but when a young mother and child need a shelter to stay in for the night, Nolan is more than happy to help them try to find something instead of worrying about the competition. He clearly has a weakness for kids. In the end, they were unable to find anywhere for the mother and child to go. I really thought Nolan might take them back to his house for the night but that didn't happen.
Bradford was all about winning. He and Chen chased a possible DUI suspect and the guy crashed getting impaled by a metal fence post. Bradford was more concerned about getting a blood sample so he could prove the guy was under the influence than he was about the guy possibly bleeding out. Lucy was worried that all he cared about was the competition, but Bradford denied it. Later they interrupted an armored car robbery. The thieves holed up in the secure part of the armored car. Bradford called for SWAT but didn't want to sit around for hours waiting for the situation to be resolved (and missing out on more collars) so he flushed them out. It worked out OK but again Lucy was worried that he needlessly put their lives in danger. The other TOs thought he was so gungho about the roundup because it reminded him of the good times he had when both he and his wife were rookies.
We got to meet Nolan's landlord. They appeared to be really good friends. Nolan started dating his wife in high school then they were married for 20 years so he has never been on his own. His friend suggested he stay out of relationships for a while and get to know himself. The landlord was making himself at home. Maybe he's staying for a while. Favorite line: Nolan - 'Hey, kids, ever been tased?'

I do not know how about that. But I work for The Community Affairs Division of our local Sheriffs Office. One of the officers was a track star at FSU back in the 70's. He was always talking about how good he was so they had an in office track meet. So they do goofy stuff.
