On Captain Andersen’s orders, Officer Nolan and Sergeant Grey are paired up for the day on patrol. Additionally, Nolan’s son and Grey’s daughter visit their dads on the job and see them in action. Meanwhile, Officer Chen is paired up with Captain Andersen, and Officer Bradford tells Chen to protect her at all costs.
Wonder if their kids will start dating. Of course Henry doesn't live there but there could be a spark!

I'm looking forward to these new pairings! It's sort of like walking a mile in someone else's shoes. There'll surely be some tension but I hope there's also a new understanding. With the 2 kids around, that'll add another interesting dynamic. This ensemble cast gives the writers a lot to explore!

Once again, I really enjoyed the episode, I only wish we had gotten more time with Henry and Nolan, and Henry interacting with the other rookies.
I loved getting to know the Captain better, and although I thought Grey and Nolan would have bonded more over the kids, I think they struck a nice balance without becoming too chummy too soon.

Review - Spoilers
Henry finally arrives for a visit as his dad is getting arrested for breaking into a car (his own). The cop is sure Nolan is lying once he says he's a LAPD rookie. There aren't too many age jokes any more but they are still there. Henry greets Jackson and Lucy like old friends confusing his dad. They quickly explain they've been following each other on social media for a long time. The 3 young people standing together looking at Nolan kind of emphasized the great divide in their ages. Nolan looked like he felt out of place while they were all so chummy. It would get really awkward if Henry got interested in Lucy!
The teams were switched up this week. Grey partnered with Nolan and Andersen partnered with Chen leaving Bishop and Bradford to ride together. Bishop had been Bradford's boot for a short time so he expected to be in charge. Bishop doesn't take the back seat to anyone so they butted heads the whole time.
Andersen was calm and effective but still got punched trying to break up a squabble over a parking space. Lucy felt like she wasn't doing well. A man she was escorting out of house broke away, grabbed a gun and killed himself and the captain got punched because Lucy ducked. The captain told Lucy she wasn't at fault and she wanted to ride with her because she was impressed with her. That will surely help Lucy's confidence. She always seems hesitant to me.
Nolan seemed very nervous riding with Grey. If I've learned anything it's that being older makes you much less nervous about things. It was a bit ridiculous. Nolan kept pulling forward and backward and forward and backward trying to get to the proper distance behind a car he pulled over. Grey was rolling his eyes and Nolan still didn't have the car at the proper angle in case they needed to take cover. Nolan said it was just a little old lady. Turns out the little old lady wasn't a good person. He is still too trusting and he needs to get over that. As they tried to rescue people out of a house filled with gas, Grey was overcome and Nolan had to go back in to get him. Again he was very ineffective, shaking Grey and telling him he needed to get up. The guy's unconscious! Nolan then tries to drag the rug with Grey on it but it was too awkward so he goes back to trying to get him to get up. Why he didn't just grab his arms or legs and just drag him out I'll never know. I know Grey is a big man but so is Nolan. He wasted so much time I don't know why he wasn't overcome also. Finally, he helps Grey to his feet to walk out. Not too realistic. Grey was of course grateful. Although it's obvious Nolan has more to learn, he seems to be earning more respect.
What I wanted to see was more interaction between John and Henry. Grey's daughter, Dominique, showed up surprising Grey who apparently forgot she was interning at his precinct. She asked if mom knew he was going out on patrol. Makes me think he may have promised her to stay on desk duty after he was shot several years earlier, but we didn't find out for sure. Both kids were cute and smart and not smart alecky like all the kids on sitcoms are. They were both also very concerned about their dads and the dangers they faced on the job. John even told Henry that if he were that concerned about his job, then John would find something else. Henry didn't want him to give up on the job but wanted him to know that the job worried him. I'm glad they can talk about things. Hope we see a lot more of Henry.
