A massive earthquake rocks the city and throws everyone’s patrols and its citizens into chaos. Meanwhile, agent Russo (Sarah Shahi) recommends Officer Nolan for a protective detail of Brad Hayes (Joel McHale), a man whose dealings have put a target on his head, on “The Rookie,” airing TUESDAY, MARCH 26 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT)

Joel McHale is a good buddy of Nathan's. I bet they enjoyed the time together. I look forward to seeing it!

Nathan often talks about being the tallest guy in the group. Looks like he's met his match with these guys! What a fine group of talented guys!

Trucco and McHale are both taller than Nathan. Of course Adam Baldwin is taller than Nathan and they've worked together a lot. In general, there aren't many taller than Nathan. I was a little disappointed that Trucco didn't have a bigger part. I'll think we'll see him again though.

Review - Spoilers
Nolan is still struggling with the Captain's death. It doesn't help that the new captain is a jerk who makes up lots of little rules that the officers must follow that make no sense. He seems to be enjoying a nice relationship with Jessica although she seems to be away on work quite a bit.
Following Jessica's suggestion, Nolan volunteers to be a guard at a safe house guarding Joel McHale's character, Hayes. Bradford also volunteers for the safe house duty leaving Bishop and Chen to be partners.
Nolan and Bradford work well together, but of course things don't go smoothly for them. First there is an earthquake, then Hayes overpowers Nolan but Nolan quickly gets the upperhand. Then bad guys break in and try to kill them. Bradford and Nolan grab Hayes and escape to the beach thinking no one would look for them there. Of course the bad guys show up. The officers take them into custody and realize that Hayes had a tracker on him.
Lopez and West had to deal with a crazy guy high on drugs. Chen and Bishop also had a crazy person but then had to go to the hospital because Chen's dad got his arm broken by one of his patients. Her dad doesn't approve of her job and is very angry when Chen arrests his assailant who he feels needs treatment not jail.
In the end Nolan and Jessica are together on the beach. He found out that she used to date a Navy Seal and wondered why she didn't mention to her ADA friend that Nolan was a rookie. She made light of it saying he won't always be a rookie, but Nolan seemed conflicted. Will this affect their relationship? Not sure, but I like them together and wish we could see more of them. Of course, there are only 3 episodes left so there won't be much time to develop the relationship.
I have to say, this was not one of my favorite episodes. Everything seemed pretty contrived. Sergeant Grey gave high praise about the new captain and got him promoted so they will get a new captain. How likely is that to happen? Hawley wrote this one and I would have expected better from him.

It happens. My Mother had a coworker who was a slacker, but the Supervisor wrote her glowing evaluations. My mother asked asked why the woman was rated so highly. The reply was because if I don't I will be stuck with her.
Sergeant Grey wanted the Captain gone and that was the best way.
