Greg Henry guest stars. Another of Nathan's old costars from Slither and Firefly.

And the opposing attorney, played by Joseph C. Phillips was the Mayor in season 1 of Castle. Here's my review of "Homefront" for TV Fanatic.

USA Today has their annual 'Save Our Shows' poll in today's edition. I voted to save The Rookie. This is a way viewers can help save their favorite shows. Over the years, several shows have been saved this way and I hope some here have access to this poll.

Review - Spoilers
Nolan finds himself accused of injuring a bystander as he was chasing a suspect. Everyone tells him he is lucky to get the highly experienced lawyer, Simon Parks, but when his lawyer shows up he looks like he is 14 and announces he is Simon Parks, Jr. and this is his 1st case. Nolan is immediately concerned and tries to switch lawyers to no avail.
Meanwhile, Det Jenkins was arrested for lying on the witness stand. This caused 3 of his cases to be overturned and the criminals released. The officers were assigned to follow up on the released convicts. One of those guys, Terry, used to hang out with Dylan who Talia lived with in the same foster house for about a year. So now we get to ifnd out more about Talia's background. While Nolan is off dealing with his lawsuit, Bishop tracks down Dylan to make sure he's not involved with Terry. She obviously was very close to Dylan while they were together and she felt bad when she moved on and had to leave Dylan behind, but they hadn't seen each other since. Dylan assured her he wasn't involved with Terry and obviously still harbored bad feelings about Talia deserting him. Talia follows Dylan and sure enough he meets up with Terry as they are about to knock off a stash house. Bishop confronts them and attempts to take them in custody but a third man gets the drop on her and they handcuff her and throw her in the back of the van while they rob the stash house. They escape and Terry decides they have to get rid of Bishop. Talia heartbreakingly apologizes to Dylan for leaving him behind and said even though she couldn't keep him in her life, she kept tabs on him and that she loved him and was sorry. In the face of death she remains strong, but Dylan shoots Terry to save her. Bishop takes Dylan into custody as he begs for her to let him go since he just saved her life. Of course she couldn't do that. This was a great storyline and Afton gave a very powerful performance. The kicker is that Talia didn't report Dylan as 'family' when she applied to be a cop and is afraid she will lose her job if it comes out. However she feels she can no longer deny Dylan and she confesses to Sgt Grey. He feels like there is nothing he can do to help her with so much scrutiny on the dept in light of Det Jenkins arrest. It could cost her her job. I'm with PTVJ, Dylan isn't actually her family. They were just briefly in the same foster family. I don't think this will ultimately be a problem for her but they are making a big deal out of it.
Back at Nolan's lawsuit, Simon advised him that less is more and he will do most of the talking. Nolan can't seem to listen and offers to help because he had small claims court experience. Nolan continually can't keep his mouth shut upsetting his attorney and apparently ticking off the arbiter. Finally the guy bringing the lawsuit says it's not his first run in with police and they have never apologized. Nolan's natural empathy causes him to apologize to the guy and they take that as a confession. Sgt Grey calls and tells him Bishop is missing and Nolan immediately leaves saying he has to help his TO and doesn't care about the proceedings any more. Turns out that action impressed the arbiter and Simon was able to do his job with Nolan gone so the case was dismissed. As Talia said,"The oldest boot paired with the youngest lawyer. Sounds like a match made in heaven."
Jackson finally confronts his dad about what the escaped convict said about him planting evidence and doing other sketchy things earlier in his career. His dad was immediately livid but later apologized but Jackson was having none of it. He always worshipped his dad as the perfect cop. He couldn't handle the fact that that was a mirage. I thought he was unreasonably upset with his father. Jackson is still wet behind the ears and has no idea what his dad had to deal with back then. His dad swore he never planted evidence but I don't think Jackson believes it.
Finally, things are steaming up between Lopez and Wesley. They play footsy under the table while interrogating a suspect. Finally the suspect says, "Who's rubbing my foot?" LOL
Overall, good episode.
