* * * Spoilers * * *
This week marks the first time that Nolan has to testify in court. He's confident - until everyone starts telling him how bad their 1st time in court was. As his apprehension grows he is relieved to discover Wesley is the prosecuting attorney. He is also bolstered by Jessica stopping by to support him. Wesley doesn't give him a break and tries to make it seem that Nolan couldn't be sure who the driver was in the case. Everything changes when an alert sounds on everyone's phones that there are 29 minutes before a missile hits the city!
The judge tells them there is no bomb shelter in the building but Lopez relays to Wesley that there is. Nolan leads them downstairs and discovers the judge and staff in the bomb shelter and the judge is guarding the door with a gun, not intending to let anyone else in with them. Nolan takes the gun from the judge and admits all the prisoners, lawyers and everyone else from the courtroom. I'm so impressed with how great Nolan performs under pressure. He disarmed the judge like a pro, then handcuffed him one handed and faced down a murderer who was taunting the parents of the murder victim.
Later the prisoners managed to free themselves and in the ensuing chaos, Wesley gets stabbed. Things look bleak until Jackson shows up to save the day.
Things are touch and go for Wesley and Lopez is understandably very upset. Her friends gather around her in support and it looks like Wesley will be OK.
Nolan comes to Harper's aid when her ex wants her arrested for 'kidnapping' her daughter because when she got the missile alert she went to her daughter's school and brought her back to the station to try and keep her safe. Nolan defuses the situation and the ex doesn't seem like a bad guy at all. So now Nolan and the others understand Harper's reasons for becoming a TO. It's all about her daughter.
Earlier when Harper discovered the dead body with a vicious dog feeding on it, why the heck didn't she shoot it instead of trying to outrun it which could have ended quite badly? They are going to have to put the dog down anyway.
Once again I thought this episode was great. Now that we have a taste of Nolan and Grace, they are bringing Jessica back into the picture as a loving and supportive girlfriend so I guess for now we will have to put Grace on the back burner.
I really think season 2 is better than season 1. I think they overplayed the age thing at the beginning of season 1 and now I love how great the rookies are doing. For a TV show, I think it's a fairly good depiction of the police department.
So do you agree the show is improving?
