A new love interest perhaps? Perhaps a love interest for Tim.

Looks like Nolan will have a new training officer in Season 2 as Afton Williamson is not returning. I was crushed to hear this. She was the heart of the training officers and such a great actress. Hopefully the show will survive her loss. I hope it's because she was offered a great part that she couldn't refuse.

I read the story on TVLine and then read the comments. The Stanatics came out of the slime.

Nathan gets to show his arms this year! I always wondered why the rookies had to wear long sleeves while everyone else wore short sleeves.

I was so hoping that Afton was leaving the show for a great role. I'm shocked and saddened to learn that she was mistreated on set. From her account, it sounds like Hawley didn't take her accusations seriously. She mentions a recurring costar who sexually harassed her. I keep trying to think who that might have been and wondered if it could have been Currie Graham. I shouldn't speculate but I hate that their best actress was treated so poorly and Hawley didn't support her the way he should have. It casts a bad light on the show. Hawley outwardly appears to support women trying get more women directors, but women have to feel safe at their job and shouldn't be harassed or bullied. https://www.instagram.com/p/B0vCRlxld74

Considering the fact she said she had to work with the actor on the last episode it was not Currie Graham. My thinking is the actor who played the Chief of IA and was one of the Rookies Dad.

You could be right! I always liked Michael Beach and would hate to think it was him, but there are limited recurring characters. She has interacted with him in a few episodes so that could be a good guess. I can't remember the finale well enough to remember who she interacted with. Shawn Ashmore (Wesley) was also in the last episode. She says 'end of season' so it may not even be the last episode but towards the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if they keep the guy now that she has left.

I guess his Father did not teach him to respect women. The part about the Head of the Hair department is even worse.

What I do not understand is, She said it had been going on since the pilot so why did she stay.

It was a great role and something I'm sure she didn't want to give up. She probably thought Hawley would help her since he always talks like he is pro-women. You would think he would stand up for one of his best actors. I can certainly understand her wanting to keep her job but once she realized they weren't even investigating, she realized she needed to leave. She's very talented so I think she will be fine, but it is a tragedy that women have still have to be subjected to harassment on the job.
I've seen many comments about how people will no longer watch the show either because Talia was their favorite character or because they are so disgusted that she wasn't supported by the show. It remains to be seen if the show can survive this.

If everything Afton has said is true, Alexi Hawley seriously mishandled this. There was no need for the guest actor to return. He could have been written out and fans would have barely noticed. Also, the issues with the hair department should have led to an immediate HR investigation but it appears Hawley took no action on either front.
I hope that ABC replaces Hawley as showrunner. I really think that's the only way the show can successfully shake this scandal and move on.
